"Obama administration will propose setting aside the 1.4 million-acre coastal plain...as wilderness...The department will also put part of the Arctic Ocean off limits to drilling as part of a five-year leasing plan it will issue this week and is considering whether to impose additional limits on oil and gas production...federal officials would prohibit motorized access to the area as well as the construction of any roads. "The Herald and News “Water Line” report in Sunday’s paper failed to address the primary issue — dam removal. Obviously, the writers failed to read: “Dam Removal, The Swindle of the Century” at  http://pienpolitics.com/?p=1989  Siskiyou County put a Measure on the ballot in November 2010 which said: “Should the Klamath River Dams (Iron Gate, Copco 1 and Copco 2) and associated hydroelectric facilities be removed?” The result: 79.04 percent voted no. If a similar vote had occurred in Klamath County, the result would be the same."

"Atkinson is a longtime supporter of the 2010 Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement and the related Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement..."  Some of the pro-KBRA stars in the trailer are KBRA supporters: Klamath Water Users Association / KWUA Executive Director Greg Addington,  Becky Hyde from off Project, former KWUA president Steve Kandra, Kurt Thomas from KBRT/Klamath Basin Rangeland Trust, and others. "A River Between Us” is a “call to action on behalf of the largest restoration project in American history.” " 'We don’t draw the conclusion for anybody,' Atkinson said."  KBC's Negotiation Page identifies involvement of  KBRT and KWUA, The Nature Conservancy, Off Project Becky Hyde, and Klamath Tribes when this group was trying to give 690,000 acres of the Winema/Fremont National Forest to the Klamath Tribe. Here is an example of a meeting in 2003 Negotiation.  After thousands of petitions against that deal, in 2010 closed-door meetings (with more tribes and environmental groups) gave birth to the KBRA/Klamath Hydrodam-removal deal and gift of 92,000 acres of private forest land to the tribes plus millions of $.

Herald and News, pro-KBRA newspaper, today published a 6-page promotion of the Klamath "Agreements" which destroy four Klamath River hydro dams, plant endangered fish in the warm Klamath Lake, permanently retire prime farmland, give Klamath Tribes land that they previously sold plus millions of dollars, control surface and groundwater, and assure farmers that they will have 'predictable' water. The definition of predictable is, the rulers on a certain spring day will let the farmers know if, and how much, water they will allow them to use of their own deeded water every spring so they can plan accordingly:
