AUDIO - Bill Meyer Show debate featuring farmer Steve Kandra and environmental activist and Karuk Tribe spokesman Craig Tucker, both supporting KBRA and Klamath dam destruction. Opponents of the "agreement" in the debate are former Karuk Tribal councilman and Shasta tribal member Gary Lake, and John Martinez. KBC Notes: Tucker said dams provide no irrigation and costs only $200 million to remove. He didn't mention the cost of removing 20 million cubic yards of toxic silt. He said "there's court battles ahead of us," although previously while selling the KBRA to the public he said this would end litigation, which is what caller Tara, KWUA employee, said this would end litigation.  posted 11/12/11

I object to being called prejudiced; KBRA wrong, H&N, letter by Dennis Jefcoat, posted to KBC 7/7/11. "Steve Kandra’s June 7 letter asserted I am prejudiced against Native Americans and their private interest. My heritage is Anglo-Saxon, black slave and Cherokee Indian."

Republican leadership shows no viable plan for Basin water, by Steve Kandra, H&N letter, posted to KBC 3/2/11. (KBC note: Republican leaders supporting the amendment opposing the Klamath hydropower dam destruction studies are California U.S. Congressman Tom McClintock, Calif. U.S. Congressman Wally Herger, and Oregon U.S. Congressman Greg Walden.  Kandra was a board member of Klamath Basin Ecosystem Foundation and a member of the Hatfield Working Group. He represents Klamath Water Users Association at the table negotiating the KBRA.  Kandra in letter said, "Opposition to the negotiated agreements has not offered up any viable alternative plan other than to continue holding Klamath agriculture, fishermen and businesses hostage."  (KBC NOTE: go HERE for public input meeting, boycotted by Klamath Water Users Association, that gave 4 hours of solutions from The People of the Klamath Basin, on- and off-Project, and no one supported dam removal. Also, no one opposing dam removal or the KBRA is allowed at the settlement table as a voting member.)
