The Tulelake Growers Association is a non-profit
organization formed by farmers in 1942 to assist with agricultural related
issues. Although, issues have changed over the years, our purpose to promote and
maintain successful family farms in the Klamath Basin has become more important
that ever. The Water Crisis of 2001 was the most devastating event ever in the
history of our rural communities. The uncertainty of a full delivery of
irrigation water so essential to the economic and environmental well being of
the Klamath Basin remains an undeniable threat.
This organization continually strives to protect and enhance the Klamath Basin agricultural community. Our progress has been substantial. We are deeply involved in the political arena, legal issues and media coverage. We work closely with our legislative leaders at all levels. Agriculture is the very foundation of the economy of this nation. It provides approximately 40% of the economic base of Klamath County alone. For these and many other reasons it is imperative to organize projects, advance our ideas and remain a credible advocate for our agricultural and business community. This Association continually strives to provide stability and strength for agribusiness in our area. Our community must never suffer another year like 2001!
Since the settlement of the Klamath Basin, agriculturists have supported our local businesses. Continually confronted with the high price of addressing economic stability and environmental issues, excessive government regulation, ESA requirements, crop production costs and educating the public emphasize the need to maintain a fiscally responsible organization.
As an Associate or Affiliate member your business will be recognized for supporting our organization in newspaper publications and on the klamathbasincrisis.org website. A membership certificate will be sent upon receipt of your dues. In Addition, an Affiliate member will receive a free video entitled "Homesteading in a Promised Land" You may also choose to receive pertinent information regarding natural resource issues by providing an e-mail address. We hope that you will display the membership certificate at your place of business so patrons will know you recognize and support the important role of agriculture in the Klamath Basin. The non-profit status of this organization allows your contribution to be tax deductible.
A membership application follows this letter. Thank you for your generous contribution allowing us to advance the interests of agriculture and the business community in the Klamath Basin.
Sincerely,
