 FORMTEXT Defenders of Wildlife has partnered with the UC Santa Barbara Bren School of Environmental Science and Management to complete a study aimed at helping livestock producers in northern California reduce the likelihood of conflicts with wolves. Key objectives of the study were to:

• Analyze current or potential livestock grazing areas and overlap those with areas where gray wolves are most likely to live in order to map out where wolf-livestock conflict may occur, and

• Recommend proactive strategies for northern California livestock producers to use to reduce conflicts between livestock and wolves.

The Defenders of Wildlife and UC Santa Barbara will be presenting their findings to the Board of Supervisors.

This study was recently completed and we believe it will be of interest to you and your constituents. We would appreciate an opportunity to share the results and recommendations with your board members and other interested county officials. Depending on the amount of time you have available for such presentation and the level of detail you would like, we can provide either a brief overview of the study during a regularly scheduled board meeting or a more in-depth presentation in a special study session.
