Distribution Update 10/1/04
USGS
Update Table of Contents
Water temperatures increased this week. Daytime
temperatures in our study
area ranged from 13.6 to 17.8 'C. Dissolved oxygen
concentrations had a
broader range than in recent weeks (3.2 to 13.3
mg/L). The highest
concentrations were found in the northern portion
of the study area (10.1
to 13.3 mg/L) while the range of values in the south
was quite broad (3.2
to 11.1 mg/L). Peak levels of pH decreased from
10.0 to 9.5. Overall, pH
ranged from 8.6 to 9.5 with only two sites where
levels were below 9.0.
These data are preliminary and are being provided as
a qualitative
assessment of lake conditions and fish
distributions. Only daytime
conditions collected by our water quality crews as
they visit each
monitoring site in our study area (all of Upper
Klamath Lake north of Bare
Island including Ball and Shoalwater bays, but
excluding Agency Lake)
during the course of the week are reported. They
are not meant to be
representative of the full range of conditions
occurring throughout the day
and night nor representative of conditions in all
areas of the lake.
