KSYC NEWS 8/24/12Siskiyou Under Siege Part 5The Karuk Tribe in association with the Klamath River Keepers have begun to petition the State Water Resources Control Board to have the Scott River declared and impaired river due to low flow. Erica Terence and S Craig Tucker made the pitch that Agriculture has caused the rivers flow to become impaired.KSYC NEWS HAS LEARNED THAT THE KLAMATH RIVER KEEPERS ARE A FRONT ORGANIZATION OF THE KARUK TRIBE. SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE RIVER KEEPERS ARE ALSO EMPLOYEES OF THE KARUK TRIBE.AGRICULTURAL GROUPS, CATTLE WOMEN, CATTLE MEN, IRRIGATION, BUSINESS, HOMEOWNERS, WATER AND PROPERTY RIGHTS GROUPS HAVE PROMISED TO BAND TOGETHER TO FIGHT THIS ASSAULT ON THE LAST ECONOMIC ENGINE IN SISKIYOU COUNTY.REPRESENTATIVES OF THIS ALLIANCE HAVE GIVEN KSYC NEWS THE FOLLOWING QUOTE. “ WE WANT THE KARUK TRIBE TO KNOW THAT THEY DO NOT LIVE IN AN ECONOMIC VACUUM. WE ARE CONSIDERING A BOYCOTT OF ALL TRIBAL BUSINESSES. WE ARE ALSO CONSIDERING LAWSUITS AGAINST THE KARUK TRIBE AND INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE KARUK TRIBE.”A RALLY TO RAISE MONEY FOR LEGAL ACTION IS PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER THE 25TH IN SCOTT VALLEY.STAY TUNED FOR OUR CONTINUING SERIES, SISKIYOU UNDER SIEGE.
