Our Klamath Basin
Water Crisis
Upholding rural Americans' rights to grow food,
own property, and caretake our wildlife and natural resources.
Removing dams is just wrong-headed

In the articles about the
Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement, the Herald and News has
repeatedly said that “Dam removal would be paid for by a
surcharge on Pacific Power customers in Oregon and by proposed
bonds in California.”
What about their customers
in Northern California?
We have a 50-horsepower
irrigation pump in addition to our domestic service. We were
notified about a year ago to expect a 2 percent surcharge on
our bills. PP&L intends to collect $2 million a year for a
period of 10 years from Modoc and Siskiyou counties.
There must be a better
solution. Removing hydroelectric dams is just wrong-headed.
There are too many other
problems that need fixing. California is drowning in debt and
we’re expected to pass a bond measure in support of removing
dams?
Somehow, someway, we need
to put a stop to the lawsuits being filed by environmental
groups whose only motive is to destroy other people’s lives.
This is not about saving fish. It’s about control and
incrementally orchestrating the decline of America’s
greatness.
