Respecting Siskiyou County Resolution

The California Republican Party,
Recognizes, the importance of the hydropower facilities of J. C.
Boyle, Copco I, Copco II, and Irongate on the Klamath River to
California's renewable energy goals. That Copco I, Copco II, and
Irongate Dams and located in Siskiyou County. That these dams
generate 169 megawatts of emission free energy for 70,000 homes,
provide flood protection, and a stable water supply for migrating
fish, agricultural and community needs,
Recognizes, that the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors
unanimously voted for a resolution opposing removal of dams in the
Klamath River Basin,
Recognizes, that all impacts to the Klamath Basin, Siskiyou County
and the citizens of Siskiyou County must be openly reviewed by
authorities with jurisdiction without compromise of a bias resolve
to dam removal,
Recognizes, the five solutions proposed by the Siskiyou County
Board of Supervisors: construction of the Long Lake Project in
Klamath County, Oregon; proposed Clear Creek to Deer Creek (Hart)
Bypass for fish passage around Irongate, Copco I and II,
implementation of wild fish propagation through ARED program;
study of C. Shasta parasite disease effecting 90% mortality of
juvenile salmonoid migration to the Pacific Ocean; initiate study
of ocean habitat conditions,
Regretfully notes, that political pressure that farmers and
ranchers are under in the Klamath Basin and that they had to agree
to dam removal to secure a guarantee of water in hopes of saving
their farms and livelihoods,
Deplores, that the Federal Government is mitigating promised water
for World War I and World War II veteran homesteaders, their
descendants, and future landowners in the basin,
Whereas, the California Republican Party had declared on its
website "California's 58 county Republican committees put
Republican ideas into action in every corner of out state.",
That it be shown, the Siskiyou County Republican Central Committee
unanimously supports the resolution of the Siskiyou County Board
of Supervisors; the concerns of our county's citizens; and the
economic and environmental viability of Siskiyou County,
Supports, recognition of hydropower as a viable renewable energy
for California's future,
Opposes, Governor Schwarzenegger's approval of the removal and
demolition of Klamath Basin Dams,
Declares, that Governor Schwarzenegger has not visited Siskiyou
County, nor attended a public forum regarding Klamath Basin Dams
in Siskiyou County,
Now, therefore, let it be resolved the California Republican
Party;
Endorses, the Siskiyou County Republican Central Committee's
support of the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors resolution
opposing dam removal and proposed solutions for the Klamath Basin,
Requests, that the Federal Government adhere to its promise with
the Klamath Basin Irrigators to deliver the water required to
sustain their farms and communities,
Requests, all counties of California should be respected by our
state government,
Requests with great resolve, that the State of California and
Governor Schwarzenegger respect the Republican ideal that the
government closest to the people best represents the people,
Requests with greater resolve, that the State of California and
Governor Schwarzenegger recognize the resolution passed by the
Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors and the Siskiyou County
Republican Central Committee regarding the Klamath River Dams.
