NMFS is issuing regulations = under=20 authority of the Tuna Conventions Act of 1950, as amended, = for the=20 U.S. purse seine fishery operating in the eastern Pacific = Ocean to=20 make U.S. regulations more consistent with the = Inter-American=20 Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) Resolution on the = Capacity of the=20 Tuna Fleet Operating in the Eastern Pacific Ocean (IATTC=20 Resolution C-02-03). These revisions will ensure that the = United=20 States satisfies its obligations under the Tuna = Conventions Act=20 and as a member of the IATTC while allowing controlled = operational=20 flexibility for the U.S. industry consistent with the = IATTC=20 management framework.
