Shasta Nation Supports Siskiyou County Resolution

Based on several centuries of Shasta Nation history, current scientific and geographic knowledge regarding the Siskiyou County resolution opposing dam removal on the Klamath River, of which is predominantly located within Shasta Nation original ancestral lands, the Shasta Nation supports the heart of the California Republican Party's endorsement of said Siskiyou County resolution with the following inclusions:

1. Construction of the Long Lake Project in Klamath County, Oregon shall acquire consultation from the appropriate Tribal jurisdiction.

2. The proposed Clear Creek to Deer Creek (Hart) Bypass for fish passage consult the appropriate Tribal jurisdiction as to ensure preservation of Tribal burial, ceremonial and cultural sites.

3. Let it be duly noted that the Shasta Nation does not take preference to any one political view, and that the Tribe's involvement directly engages issues that could effect the Shasta People's customs, culture and history past, present and future.

Let it be duly noted that the Shasta Nation recognizes green-energy, and supports hydro-power currently in place within Shasta Nation territory.

The Shasta Nation respects water required to sustain farms and communities.

In closing, the Shasta Nation requests that Governor Schwarzenegger recognize the resolutions passed by the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors and the Siskiyou County Republican Central Committee with the above mentioned inclusions.
