Addressing KBRA a good first move

Recently, our county commissioners voted two to one in support of the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement as written. Since that time, we had an election. Did anyone notice that the two commissioners who voted for county support are gone? I hear the voter message loud and clear. Do you?

The message became especially clear when both of the newly elected individuals, as citizens, were known to be against the KBRA as it is written. Really getting my attention was that one of the newly-elected commissioners was the choice of both political parties coming out of the primary. So do not try to tell me that the KBRA plan as currently written is supported by a majority of county voters.

As this community attempts to protect its natural resources, with water being the core issue, it is going to take ideas from everyone to develop an effective plan.

We need a plan void of emotion, political correctness and personal agendas. We need a plan based on practical workable ideas — something as brilliant as the plan that originally put irrigation water in the Basin.

I knew the KBRA support issue would face the commissioners immediately upon their election. The majority of those who voted in the last election have selected them to make decisions for us.

I would ask that the commissioners remove themselves from the political arena and become statesmen as they tackle this important issue.

County residents must know the true and honest reasons used in making their decision regarding the KBRA support issue.

As an individual, I do not want the county to indicate it is supporting the KBRA as currently written.

I want to thank the commissioners for quickly addressing the KBRA support issue.
