REDDING – Longtime north state forestry veteran and former Plumas
County Supervisor Bill Dennison has announced his support for Doug
LaMalfa in the upcoming campaign for State Senate.
“As an Assemblyman, Doug LaMalfa has proven that he will protect
our state and U.S. Constitutions and will work towards a healthy
business climate in California,” said Dennison.
The well-respected forester and grassroots community leader
Dennison formerly served as President and CEO of the California
Forestry Association for 14 years before semi-retiring to Chester
and serving the people of Plumas County for three terms on the
Board of Supervisors. A national advocate for rural and forest
counties, he helped organize the National Forest Counties and
Schools Coalition. He also served as the Executive Director of
William Jessup University’s Pacific Forest Institute and the
Sierra Cascade Logging Conference.
He added, “As a farmer, he has a commitment to supporting the wise
use of our natural resources. He had a proven track record of
listening to and acting on behalf of his constituents and I’m sure
he will serve an even greater role as our California State
Senator.
LaMalfa thanked Dennison noting, “I’m thankful to have earned the
support of Bill Dennison, who has been a tireless advocate for the
wise stewardship of our natural resources over a lifetime of work
and service. I look forward to continuing to work with Bill as we
seek to improve California’s forest management policies.”
The 4th Senate District spans much of rural northern California.
LaMalfa represented much of the district when he served in the
Assembly and is well known throughout the area. Doug LaMalfa is a
fourth generation rice farmer and business owner who represented
the 2nd Assembly District from 2002 through 2008.
