Paul L. Rogers

Paul L. Rogers, 85, died Oct. 8, 2005, in Klamath Falls.

At his request, funeral services will not be held. Cremation will be by Eternal Hills Crematory. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rogers was born April 26, 1920, in Halfway to Gustov and Pearl Rogers.

He was raised by his uncle and aunt Samuel and Ollie Hunter and attended school in Halfway before attending Oregon State University.

During World War II, he enlisted in the Army and, while stationed at White City, met his future wife Mabel F. Rominger. They were married on Oct. 21, 1944, in Santa Barbara, Calif., prior to his deployment to Germany as a master sergeant/sergeant major.

After his return to the United States in 1946, Mr. Rogers drew a homestead near Newell and farmed there until moving in 1956 to Tulelake, where he opened Rogers Insurance Agency and operated it until his retirement.

He was always active in the community and participated in getting a grade school built in Newell. He was also instrumental in organizing the Tulelake Seniors and enjoyed going to senior lunches.

He loved his cat, watching birds, visits by family members, and to hunt, fish, and reminiscence about the trips he took with his friends,

Mr. Rogers was a member and post commander of American Legion Post No. 164 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his children and their spouses Linda and Don Micka of Merrill and Paul K. ”Kelly“ and Anne Rogers of Danville, Va.; grandchildren and their spouses Jared and Jennifer Loveness of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Nathan Loveness of Wickenburg, Ariz., Joshua Rogers, Melanie and Bill Nordan and Alyssa Rogers of Danville, and Lindsay and Nick Coursen of Round Hill, Va.; stepchildren Joel and Michele Micka of Kennewick, Wash., and Jodi and Tim Finkenbinder of Collinsville, Texas; great-grandchildren Cierrah and Coleby Loveness, Anya Coursen, Cody and Jordan Micka and Trent Finkenbinder; and many friends and fellow homesteaders in Tulelake.

He also leaves special caregiver and friend Kim Gatliff.

Remembrances may be sent to Tulelake Fire Department, Basin Ambulance or the Senior Center in Tulelake.
