2006-2007 Agricultural Safety Seminar Series "I've attached a Word
document which lists the dates and places for 26
Agricultural Safety Seminars which will be held in
17 cities in Oregon between October and March.
Six of the seminars will be conducted entirely in
Spanish (listed toward the end of the document).
The seminars are sponsored by SAIF. However, you
do not have to be one of their policyholders to
participate, they are open to anyone, and they're
free - but you MUST register. The attached
document will give you more detailed information
about the seminars. SAIF will begin its 12th annual Agricultural Safety Seminar Series this fall. The free, four-hour seminar is designed primarily for owners, operators, supervisors, and foremen, but anyone working in the agricultural industry is welcome to attend. Twenty-six seminars will be held in 17 cities throughout Oregon between October and March. Six seminars will be conducted entirely in Spanish. Small business employers attending the seminar will meet one of the four instructional requirements for House Bill 3019 that exempts small agricultural establishments from random OSHA inspections. SAIF will also apply for two hours of pesticide re-certification credits from the Oregon Department of Agriculture for these sessions. This season’s seminars include information on respirators and pesticides and an update on changes to Oregon OSHA’s Division 4 agriculture codes, presented by Kirk Lloyd of Risk Management Resources, Inc. and SAIF Loss Control Program Consultant Laurie LaBrasseur. Additional topics include the increased challenge of hiring work crews when the labor pool is small, and a basic loss prevention model designed to equip owners and managers with the tools and resources needed to successfully hire, train, and manage a dynamic workforce. Attendees will also learn about “cool tools” and available resources designed to reduce agricultural injuries in Oregon. 2006-2007 Agricultural Safety Seminar Series Because the seminar schedule is published so far in advance, occasionally the date, time, or location of one or more of the listed seminars may be changed. Anyone registered to attend will be notified if any changes occur. Please check www.saif.com for the latest schedule. Registration is REQUIRED and seating is limited. You will receive a registration confirmation letter with the location address approximately one week prior to the seminar.
