Ben DuVal Benefit December 27

Ben suffered serious injuries when a pickup truck he was driving left the road near Lookout, California at around 6 pm on November 14th. A rancher found Ben at about 8 am on the 15th. Ben was transported to Mayer Memorial Hospital in Fall River, then flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding for stabilization, then flown to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento where doctors amputated his left leg and repaired a fractured vertebrae. He is expected to remain at UC Davis Medical Center throughout the holidays.

Ben DuVal is the son of Randy and Beverly DuVal of Tulelake. He graduated from Tulelake High School in 1999 where he enjoyed playing football and was involved in FFA. Ben, a farmer in the Tulelake area, married Erika Cheyne on December 8, 2002. The couple recently bought their own farm and had reserved the Home Economics Building for December 27th planning for a reception to renew their wedding vows. Erika is the forestry teacher at Henley High School. However, she has used her allotted sick days and the family now has no income. Accounts have been set up at the following banks to help the family: Klamath First, 206 E. Front, Merrill (or any Klamath First Branch) and Premier West Bank, 398 Main Street, Tulelake.
