Governor Brown has proposed to eliminate 100% of all California fair funding in the 2011/12 state budget.

Two “Public Forum” meetings scheduled. The first meeting will be held on February 9^th @ 6pm at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Home Economics Building.  The second meeting will be held on February 10^th@ 6pm at the Dorris City Hall meeting room.

As I am sure that most of you are aware of Governor Brown has proposed to eliminate 100% of all California fair funding in the 2011/12 state budget. The elimination of the funding would have devastating effects throughout the state network of California fairs and of course the impacts would be felt on a local level at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair. The current state funding accounts for nearly 30% of the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair’s budget, which would of course have a serious impact on the fair’s sustainability. Due to this news, the fair has developed a Future Vision Committee to brainstorm ideas that will help maintain the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair and ensure its’ sustainability for the future. The Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Board/Staff and the future vision committee would like to have a some “Public Forum Meetings” in order to inform the people of our communities of the current funding issue facing the fair as well as to get feedback from the public with ideas and their thoughts of potential changes that may occur in order for the fair to remain sustainable and continue to serve the local communities as a one of the greatest, family oriented small fairs in the nation as the Tulelake-Butte Valley has for 60 years!

Currently there are two “Public Forum” meetings scheduled. The first meeting will be held on February 9^th @ 6pm at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Home Economics Building.  The second meeting will be held on February 10^th@ 6pm at the Dorris City Hall meeting room.

The fair office will be sending out official meeting notices to those people who’s addresses we have on file, but we ask for your help in spreading the word about these public forum meetings. Please forward this email to your entire network of local friends and neighbors who would like to be a part of these meetings. The Tulelake Butte Valley Fair not only wants the public to be informed of the funding issues facing the fair, but as well be a part of the brainstorming of ideas and solutions to strengthen the longevity of the fair far into the future!
