Wyden visit set for Wednesday

Senator hosting two meetings in Klamath, Lakeview

LAKEVIEW — U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden will be in Lakeview Wednesday for an 11:45 a.m. town hall meeting at Daly Middle School.

Wyden, an Oregon Democrat, has visited every Oregon county annually   since 1996. Doors for the Daly School session will open at 11 a.m. Lake County residents are encouraged to ask him question about local issues and get updated on current legislation.

Wyden recently introduced legislation that would promote the active management of more than 8.3 million acres of national forests in Eastern Oregon, including the Fremont-Winema National Forests in Lake and Klamath counties. The legislation was crafted with the support of the timber industry and environmental groups.

The bill calls for the treatment of at least 80,000 acres in the first year of forest management, 100,000 the second year and 120,000 the third year.
