SALEM - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a series of 10
town hall meetings throughout the state in April to gather public input on
the agency's budget for the 2007-2009 biennium.

The proposed budget, which is being developed by ODFW and a citizen budget
advisory committee, calls for carrying the same basic level of staffing and
programs currently in place forward into the next biennium. No fee increases
are being proposed. The projected cost to provide the same programs during
2007-2009 is $237.1 million.

At each town hall meeting, agency staff will present a summary of agency
programs and the related base budget, then will gather public comments that
will be used to help refine the budget before presenting it to the Oregon
Fish and Wildlife Commission in July.

The public is encouraged to provide comment at the town hall meetings
verbally or in writing. Comments also may be submitted via e-mail to
ODFW.Comments@state.or.us or by mail to ODFW, 3406 Cherry Ave. NE, Salem OR
97303-4924. All comments are due by Monday, May 1.

The Commission will consider the recommended budget at its meeting Friday,
July 7, in Salem. Once a proposed budget is approved by the Commission, it
will be submitted to the Governor for consideration. The Department's budget
will ultimately be determined by the 2007 Legislature.
