Mercy Chefs need
your help feeding Storm Sandy victims
From the Desk of:
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs 11/3/12
As the affects of
Sandy continue to stretch on, tens of thousands of battle-weary
New Yorkers are wandering about looking for something to eat.
In fact, yesterday alone, Mercy Chefs fed more than 8,000 men,
women and children. Ravaged by the storm, these people
approached our kitchen hungry, cold and looking for a chard of
hope.
As word spreads, the need grows ...
We are uniquely positioned amidst highrise apartment buildings
and public housing projects. In this small area alone, 40,000
are without power and potable water.
I am hearing reports of people dumpster diving for anything
edible. The hunger is widespread and food is difficult to come
by with all of the transportation issues here.
The situation is
critical. The need is great.
I must tell you that in all my years bringing aid to people in
these kinds of desperate situations, I have never seen anything
quite like this. But as difficult as it is to process, I am
blessed to be able to bring food and help to those in need.
That's why your support at this critical time is so vital.

David, to
those of you who have never given a gift before, I'm asking you
to open your hearts, purses and wallets to answer my call. As
the need intensifies (and I believe it will), my prayer is that
God will stir thousands of citizens to reach out and respond --
so that we can feed all in need!
It costs us about $10 to provide a hot meal to a family of four
who have no place else to turn for a meal after this massive
storm.
I am so grateful for all of the support so far. Yet, I must ask
if you can help with a gift of $30, $50, $100 or more. We will
put it to work immediately in NYC to help feed the victims,
volunteers and public service workers.
Again, I urge
you to prayerfully consider making a generous tax-deductible
contribution today to help Mercy Chefs meet this need. Click
here to give.
I don't believe
the Lord led us to this location by chance. I believe we were
brought here to do great work -- to feed and minister to these
broken, and desperate souls. But we can't succeed in our mission
unless we have the abundant support of friends like you.
You are the ones fueling our effort, and I am so grateful.
I will be updating you regularly on our mission and progress.
God bless you and thank you in advance for helping us in this
vital mission to feed people.

P.S. As word spreads, the need is most certainly going to grow,
and I am hopeful that many more will answer my call for help to
be able to provide a hot meal to all who arrive at our mobile
kitchen!
