Medicine Lake Campground to close for tribal gathering

The Pit River Tribe will have its annual gathering at Medicine Campground in the Medicine Lake Recreation Area July 18-21.

The group will use Medicine Campground and the dispersed recreation area adjacent to Medicine Campground for the gathering. These areas will be closed to the general public, according to a news release.

The event is considered a cultural gathering and is authorized by a number of laws and regulations, in particular by the American Indian Religious Freedom Act and Presidential Executive Order 13007.
