Our Klamath Basin
Water Crisis
Upholding rural Americans' rights to grow food,
own property, and caretake our wildlife and natural resources.
From attorney Bill Ganong to KBC 5/9/09 regarding
Klamath irrigators' takings case:
When the federal government withheld irrigation water
in 2001 to 1400 irrigators who have water right appurtenant to their land, does
this equal taking of property?
"The oral argument for the takings case starts at (Wednesday, May 13) 8:45 AM at Pelican Court on the campus of Klamath Union High School. For security reasons, we understand that the doors to the gym will be shut at approximately 8:35 AM and no one will be allowed out or in until the argument is finished at approximately 10 AM. Parking is limited at KU and I recommend that anyone planning to attend arrive by 8 AM.
Following the oral argument we are holding a debriefing and
question and answer session at EagleRidge High School to which
the public is invited. EagleRidge is in the former Sacred Heart
Academy High School behind Sacred Heart Church and in the 400
block of N. Ninth Street. The debriefing will last for
approximately an hour. Please spread the word."
