State closes ocean sport salmon season
State wildlife officials will
close the ocean recreational salmon fishery south of Cape Falcon
to the California border at the end of the day Thursday. That’s
when they expect fishermen will meet the coho quota for the
season, a press release said. The season opened for
fin-clipped coho on June 22 with a quota of 9,000 fish. By last
week, fishermen had caught 8,462 coho by Sunday, which is 94
percent of quota. |
