Attached is the ODFW
report covering the end of the Spring Salmon
Opportunity off the Oregon Cost. July and August
are closed in response to Klamath Fall Chinook
concerns and the troll season will resume
September 1, from Cape Falcon Oregon to the OR/CA
border.
Effort is down for
2005, yet catch estimates are up even with Coos
Bay Cell Closed the entire month of June and the
Newport Cell fishing only 3 days a week in May.
It is not too late
for Oregon Salmon Trollers to salvage a reasonable
season if the currently warm water off Oregon
cools and the weather coorporates in September and
October.
Currently the wind
has blown most of the first 15 days of July and
the water is very warm (Tuna water) so not much
salmon opportunity has been lost.
