FERC to host dam removal meeting Thursday
Herald and News 1/17/18
The public and those who have
opted to intervene in the removal of four dams along the Klamath
River are invited to attend a meeting hosted by Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission (FERC) at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Klamath
Tribal Administration building in Chiloquin, 501 Chiloquin Blvd.
The Chiloquin meeting is one of five meetings planned by FERC
this week, the first of which was held Tuesday for the Hoopa
Tribe in Hoopa, Calif., with another planned with the Yurok
Tribe at 10 a.m. on Friday in Klamath, Calif.
Participation in the meetings, including the gathering planned
in Chiloquin, is limited to participation by tribal
representatives.
"We'll be just sharing our support for the dam removal process,"
said Don Gentry, Klamath Tribal chairman.
Former Gov. Ted Kulongoski, an Oregon Democrat, who also serves
on the KRRC board of directors, will be in attendance at the
meeting, according to KRRC staff.
To register for any or all of the meetings, contact Jennifer
Polardino at FERC at 202-502-6437 or jennifer.polardino@ferc.gov.
