Several Klamath Basin landowners were presented
with conservation awards for responsible land
use by a local district.
The Klamath Soil and
Water Conservation District presented farmers
and ranchers with awards Oct. 13 during the
organization's annual meeting.
The group's district manager, Rick Woodley, said
more people were practicing good conservation
than received awards.
“There is such an
extensive list of qualified and eligible
landowners who deserve special recognition for
their conservation practices that it is very
difficult to only give a limited number of
awards,” Woodley said in a written statement.
The organization's director Joe Watkins
presented an overview of district activities and
Klamath County Commissioner Bill Brown was the
featured speaker of the evening. Brown is the
natural resource liaison for the commissioner's
office and a lifelong Klamath Basin resident.
