Attached is an
agenda for the
upcoming Stakeholders’ Workshop in Yreka, CA.
I don’t have many registrations yet, so if you plan
on attending please get back to me ASAP. We have set the next workshop in Yreka in November 1-3, 2006. At the last meeting in Chiloquin you advised us to: "Make a commitment and stay with it; no wishy-washy. Keep in mind that what we’re starting is going to be going on for a long time. Show each other what we can do and stop worrying about what people outside think." "... move beyond process and discuss specific ideas and strategies." We are taking that and other advice in organizing the meeting in November. There are four specific outcomes we will keep our focus on: * Developing a structure for basin-wide decision making that can be refined by a committee. * Forming smaller Focus Area subcommittees to generate more discussion, organize and schedule meetings to develop and resolve the Focus Area issues. * Agree to a process for developing the Integrated Plan and establish a committee to make it happen. * Develop a forum for February-March 2006, a Klamath Basin "Conference" or "Congress" to bring people together to share Focus Area committee ideas and solutions, develop a draft Integrated Basin Plan, and develop a way of speaking with one voice to legislators. This is an outline of the meeting as we see it now. We will further refine it as we get closer to November. Day 1: 8:30-5:00 Morning: * Grounding, bringing new people into the group. * Review of workshop agenda. * Advice on forming and managing focus area committees. * Forming smaller Focus Area subcommittees. Day 3: 8:00 - 3:30 Morning: * Develop initial agreement and support for a structure for basin-wide decision making that the committee will finalize. * Agree to a process and schedule to develop an integrated plan for the whole basin.
