The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public
meeting on Monday, March 3, to announce implementation of a 2003
Pilot Water Bank Program. The meeting will be held in Exhibit Hall
A of the Klamath County Fairgrounds beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The purpose of the water bank is to help meet
requirements of the 2002 Biological Opinions on Klamath Project
Operations for threatened and endangered species. The bank will
include two components: forbearance of surface water use, and
groundwater substitution. Details on the water bank and the
application process will be provided at the meeting.
Representatives from the Natural Resource
Conservation Service, Klamath Water Users Association, and local
community leaders will also be present to assist in the
discussion.
