Urge your Assembly Member to support AB 268 (Gaines,
R-Roseville), which would repeal the statute
requiring the State Water Resources Control Board to
develop regulations affecting all on-site septic
systems in California.
Landowners and Farm Team
members like you took action earlier this year to
voice opposition to the proposed
regulations that required, at minimum, property owners
with existing systems to:
-
Inspect septic tanks ($325 estimated cost) every
five years
-
Sample & analyze groundwater of on-site domestic
wells every five years
-
Retrofit tanks if found to be causing pollution
($45,000 estimated cost)
While the SWRCB is
currently rewriting the regulations, Assembly Member
Gaines took an additional step and authored AB 268 to
repeal the one-size-fits all measure.
Your help is needed
again - tell your Assembly Member how the costly
regulations will impact your family or business today!
The bill will be heard in the Assembly Environmental
Safety & Toxic Materials Committee on April 14.
Please note - This
action request is focused on those who are represented
by a member of the Assembly Environmental Safety &
Toxic Materials Committee.
