Description: On August 11, 2005, William
H. Booth, counsel for MidAmerican Energy
Holdings Company and PacifiCorp, met with
Robert Lane, advisor to Cmmr. Bohn, in San
Francisco. Booth stated that applications
for approval of the transaction have been
filed in each of the six states in which
PacifiCorp operates and that it anticipates
several of those proceedings will involve
extensive evidentiary hearings. Booth
discussed the applicants' decision to
request an exemption under Section 853(b) of
the Public Utilities Code and their hope
that the Commission will be able to process
the application expeditiously. Booth also
explained that the recent passage of the
Energy Act by Congress will simplify the
approval process by removing the need for
approval by the Securities and Exchange
Commission. |
