Wyden and Merkley Push Back Against Trump's National Monument Review
 
U.S. Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden told the Trump administration Tuesday they oppose an executive order the two claim may "shrink or undo" an expansion of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
 
In a letter addressed to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, the senators, both Democrats, cited community input from southern Oregon and northern California considered in the run up to the 48,000-acre expansion by former President Barack Obama.
 
They also claim the Cascade-Siskiyou monument was the first such area designated as such in the interest of protecting biodiversity. more..
