The film "Homesteading in a Promised Land: As Told by Family Settlers of the Tulelake Basin," will be presented at the Mount Mazama room of the Oregon Institute of Technology College Union 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jacqui Newkirk Krizo, the daughter of a homesteader who lives and works with her husband, David, on a World War II homestead, will give the program.

Deniece Davis, interim librarian for the Shaw Historical Library, which is sponsoring the program, said Krizo's program is the final in a series exploring how the lives of Klamath Basin veterans were affected through their "service and sacrifice."

Krizo worked with Anders Tomlinson in creating the Homesteading video.

Dan Keppen, executive director of the Klamath Water Users Association, says, "It shows the wide range of emotions felt by the Tulelake homesteaders in the past century, from the joy and hope felt when World War I veterans began to build a future from scratch, to the pain and sense of betrayal felt when the U.S. government took their water away in 2001."
