1932 WWI Tule Lake
Homesteads(Here for KBC News Homesteader Page) A post office has been established at Tulelake and opened under the supervision of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Taylor, postmistress, who was appointed in December. The first mail to the new office from Klamath Falls was dispatched yesterday, Postmaster John McCall states. Tulelake is the new town which was opened to settlement last summer by the United States Reclamation Service which auctioned off the city lots.Announcement of 67 tentative awards of homesteads in the Tule Lake area were made by B.E. Hayden, superintendent of the Klamath Reclamation Project. The 67 ex servicemen were selected from 169 applicants. The applicants appeared before the examining board for four oral examinations of qualification. They were graded 35 points each upon capital and farming experience, and 15 points each upon character and industry.
