Testimony to be heard on Cob facility

Draft of proposed order to be discussed

The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council will hear testimony on the proposed Cob Energy Facility when it meets Friday at the Klamath County Fairgrounds.

The council will discuss a state recommendation - still in draft form - on the future of the proposed Cob Energy Facility that would be located 30 miles east of Klamath Falls, near Bonanza.

Council members will be reviewing the draft proposed order, compiled by the Oregon Department of Energy, that recommends the Cob Energy Facility should be permitted.

Certain people who commented at Cob public hearings will be called upon to present oral arguments to the council. The council isn't seeking general public comment - the comment deadline for the draft proposed order was Feb. 5 - but people are welcome to come and listen to the council's deliberation.

The council will not make any decisions on Friday; there are still multiple stages of the process that must be completed before council members decide whether to grant the Cob project a site certificate.

The meeting begins at 8 a.m., but there are several agenda items before the Cob project. The meeting will be held in Exhibit Hall No. 2.
