In many years of residence here, we have witnessed the efficiency with which the area is maintained and wish it to remain as is for several reasons. This plant would take 38 acres of land designated for exclusive farm use by the state of Oregon. It would include several buildings under one roof, which violates the Oregon land use code. In the estimated two years of constructing the $750 million plant, there would be thousands of large semi-trucks and cars transporting laborers over two-lane roads to Bonanza in all kinds of weather, endangering local residents. The plant would use the resources of our small community (water, air, land) and provide nothing permanent in return because it would primarily provide electricity for California, not Oregon.
