Short-sighted on jobs http://www.heraldandnews.com/articles/2004/03/29/viewpoints/letters/letters.txt In the Wednesday Herald and News Stephanie Bailey is quoted as saying, "I think the COB facility means jobs when we have one of the highest unemployment rates in Oregon." She may be right about that, but all those jobs that are supposed to be created are for two years only. When the construction phase is completed, there will be only a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 30 permanent jobs. We who live in the Bonanza-Langell Valley area will be left with a huge building, spewing out pollutants located in the middle of land zoned for farm use exclusively. Bailey is being extremely shortsighted encouraging the construction of the COB facility, looking only at the short-term jobs. Penny Pickett Bonanza
