State Rep. Bill Garrard, a two-term state legislator
who represents southern Klamath County, is the
chairman of the committee. He said the hearing,
which is taking place in Klamath Falls at his
request, will give local citizens a chance to tell
the committee their views on the Cob Energy
Facility, and other land use issues. David
Stewart-Smith, the assistant director for energy
resources at the Oregon Department of Energy, will
be on hand to answer questions and testify before
the committee.
"It is our intention to be out in the community a
little more, to get more than the Salem perspective
on what's going on in this state," she said. "It needs to be looked at on a statewide basis on what it's doing right and what it's doing wrong," she said. "Too often, we're just seen as those folks in Salem. Let's not just do what works in Salem or Portland. Let's talk about what we can do statewide, and grasp the issues that make sense."
