Sixth St., Klamath Falls
When: 1 p.m. Tuesday Bureau of Reclamation’s Klamath Basin Area Office will hold a meeting updating Project irrigators on the status of the water year at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Klamath County Fairgrounds. Bureau spokesperson Laura Williams said, due to an evolving water year, she doesn’t anticipate Bureau staff being able to release a start date for irrigation, however. “It’s just keeping everybody up to speed and up to date with as much information as we can pass on to people,” Williams said. “There’ll be opportunity for questions and answers again.” The meeting is open to the public. About 180 people attended a meeting hosted by the BOR last week, with many airing frustrations over concerns related to the drought. Alan Mikkelsen, senior advisor to the Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, will not be at the Bureau’s Tuesday meeting but will be present for a release of 2-year-old suckers into Upper Klamath Lake, Williams confirmed.
